Bernard Levy

Bernard Levy has been producing black and white images for over fifty years. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Bernard Levy's interest in photography began as early as 1947 when he was just thirteen years old. His very early work won numerous awards in local competitions. In 1951 he was mentioned in the New York Times as a young and talented emerging artist when two of his award-winning images went on display at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

His most recent venues include FotoFest 2006, the Houston Center for Photography, the Houston Public Library, the International Library of Photography, the Houston Photographic Society, the Salon National De La Photographi de France, and the Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake. His work has been published internationally, sold in fine art auctions, and is included in numerous private collections.

Meeting the highest standards of fine art photography, all of Levy's images are silver gelatin prints, archival, and processed completely by him. He uses no commercial labs. His prints are signed, dated, and certified as originals.

"I discovered at an early age that there is a simple but recognizable beauty in common things. The black and white images I create are an attempt to isolate this beauty in a way that not only captures essence, but also allows for individual interpretation. The search, discovery, and capture of these images are merely the start of the process; my creative expectations are either dashed or achieved in the darkroom, where final prints come to life. I consider the images on this web site to be representative of the latter."
